The Tiger Chinese New Year Shuffle

Besides using Tigers instead of Lions for the traditional Chinese New Year Lion Dance, the "tigers" are dancing to LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem - doing the shuffling' dance at Berjaya Times Square (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)! Brought big laughter to me! Enjoy the video it is hilarious and I love the fancy footwork.

If you want to know what "shuffling" is - have a look at the original video below:

Chinese Wisdom

As the year 2011 comes to a close, I like to share with all readers and visitors to Pure Feng Shui Academy web site - this ancient Chinese wisdom. In the battle for survival, many are tempted to resort to all means to win. Here is a story behind the meaning to the popular Chinese saying:

Pure Feng Shui Academy wishes everyone good health and personal happiness in your hearts in 2012. Personally I like to thank all the kind hearts who have made my year 2011 a happy one. When the heart is pure... That's why this business name is called Pure Feng Shui and Pure Feng Shui Academy.

During the time of the warring states, Emperor of Chu was very fond of a beauty called Zheng Xiu and pampered her a lot. Then one day, Emperor of Chu found a new beauty and switched his attention and affection to the new beauty.

The sly and cunning Zheng Xiu thought up of a scheme. She tried all ways and means to get close to the new beauty. The new beauty did not suspect Zheng Xiu's warm approaches and instead felt thankful for Zheng Xiu's friendliness. One day, Zheng Xiu gave the new beauty a fake advice : when the Emperor of Chu  is in a bad mood, he will lighten up when he sees a lady cover her nose and mouth with a disgusted expression.

The new beauty believed what Zheng Xiu said and started doing it when the Emperor of Chu was upset. The Emperor of Chu was surprised. Taking the opportunity, Zheng Xiu told the Emperor of Chu that she was told by the new beauty in secret that he had bad body odor and that was why she always covered her nose and mouth.

The furious Emperor of Chu ordered the new beauty's nose to be cut off and cast her out of the palace. And that was how Zheng Xiu became the Emperor of Chu's favorite pet again...

As the new calendar year approaches, some look forward to 2012 with warm open hearts, while others worry and stress about the challenges up ahead. In life, we all have our own personal aims and challenges at work. Competition at work is inevitable, as justification for making money becomes a common excuse for some to use underhanded means against peers to gain an upper hand. What for? We are all responsible for our own karma.

While many have turned to Feng Shui skills and methods to "subdue" their personal worries and challenges, one must always start with a pure heart. The pure heart Qi is the way of the Tao.

Happy 2012!

May all be well and be happy always!

Ancient secrets of Flying Stars Feng Shui revealed!

If you search the internet for the origins of the Flying Stars Feng Shui, you will find many web sites telling you what the 9 "Flying" stars are, explanations on the concept of time and space, etc.. As for the origins of Flying Stars Feng Shui, most can only quote the late Qing dynasty based on the book written by Shen Zhu Ren. A prolific Feng Shui book writer gave his opinion that Flying Stars Feng Shui is not more than 300 years old.

A change is on the horizon for the English speaking Feng Shui community - you read it here first!

At the recent International Yi Jing Symposium held in Taipei city, the truth is out, with physical printed proof!

Pictured above is Mr Huang Chia-Cheng, one of the speakers at the International Yi Jing Symposium. At the presentation, he brought along his private collection of ancient Chinese almanacs, some dating as far back to the Song dynasty, as well as some imperial almanacs used by the Chinese emperors. Pictured above are the yellow cover almanac (imperial) and the red cover almanac (used by common people).

Almanacs from the Emperor Qian Long period (1735 - 1796) of the Qing dynasty (1644 - 1912).

Listing of the daily recommendations and stars

There it is - proof that the 9 Stars have been used in the Chinese imperial almanacs since the Song dynasty (960 - 1279). Can you spot the 9 star arrangement on this page?

This is probably one of the most important discovery of this event; as spotted by the sharp eyes of Master Leyau. Master was the one who alerted me to this speaker Master Huang and his stash of precious ancient almanacs. I asked Master Huang politely if he could let me photograph his treasured collection of ancient Chinese almanacs, and very soon a swarm of people gathered around us.

Big thank you to Master Leyau for organizing and leading the team to the International Yi Jing Symposium that was followed by the Taiwan Feng Shui tour!
